The Cinderella Project of North Texas

Press Release

The Cinderella Project Wants Every Girl
to Feel Like a Princess

Denton, TX - The Cinderella Project of North Texas is still accepting gently-used donations of formal and semi-formal dresses, shoes, and accessories for its 15th annual charity event. The event is sponsored by the Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Texas (UNT), and volunteers are busy collecting donations and will soon be sorting over 600 dresses that will be available for free to local high school students for their proms, band banquets, military balls, and other special events. There is no need to register and no income requirement.
The event aims to help girls save money, practice sustainable fashion, and simply have more options than they can find in the store. To make the experience as special as possible, volunteer “personal shoppers” are on site to help girls pick out dresses and seamstresses are available to make alterations and ensure every girl leaves feeling beautiful in her new dress. Get a sneak peek at some of the beautiful gowns available on their Facebook page at Cinderella Project (north Texas area) or Instagram at cinderellaprojectnt.
There are several ways people can help, including spreading the word about the Cinderella Project. “We do our best to let schools and teen groups know about the event, but it has happened in previous years that people didn’t hear about the event until it was over,” said Sharon Miller, the project’s coordinator. “We need everyone’s help in making sure the whole community knows about this fantastic resource.” The event is scheduled for the second weekend of March on the UNT campus:
Dates and Times:Friday, March 8th, from 4-8 pm and Saturday, March 9th, from 9 am-1 pm
Address: UNT University Union (1155 Union Circle, Denton, TX 76203), room 333
People can drop off donations at the front desk of any UNT residence hall through March 7th. After March 7th and throughout the rest of the year, donations can be taken to Honors Hall at 1716 West Eagle, Denton, Texas 76201.
For more information about the event or about opportunities to get involved, contact Sharon Miller at (972) 746-9611 or sandk.miller@gmail.com.
