POSITION OVERVIEW | |
The Technical Designer manages new development and adopted product in the assigned product area from concept to final fit approval. Daily tasks includes creating, maintaining and organizing specifications within their area of responsibility. Works closely with Senior Technical Designer to maintain consistency and integrity of fit and quality standards through mannequin and/or live model fittings and technical written spec packages. | |
QUALIFICATIONS | |
· Minimum 5 years experience as technical designer/spec technician/pattern maker. · Minimum 3 years experience preferred in juniors wear. · Strong understanding of fit and construction in clothing. · Strong Flat Technical sketching skills. · Advanced hand-pattern making and grading is a must. Digital patterning is a plus. · Advanced fabric draping, construction and sewing skills. · Knowledge and thorough understanding of ISO stitch and seam types terminology. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Excellent time management and organizational skills. · PLM or comparable, computer literate including Excel, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop. · Self-motivated, creative problem solver, excellent at multi-tasking. · Degreed professional with advanced knowledge of apparel construction and can provide solution-based remedies when faced with stringent deadlines and unforseeable obstacles that may hinder-production. | |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO | |
· Attends development meetings with designers or retailers. Responsible to determine all technical fit/spec related requirements for Juniors Wear. · Responsible for technical design process from initial development to final fit for a broad classification of Juniors wear products. · Independently analyze fit on a live model and clearly communicate fit and construction changes in an effective and concise manner using internal tools. · Responsible for the fit sample evaluation, size grading process, generating flat technical sketches and correcting fit issues. · Manage workflow, prioritizing and consistent follow through with factories on production orders and reorders. · Prioritize and processes samples for production as submitted via the sales team or merchandizers. · Provides support to the graphic design team in conjunction with the presentation garment in relation to product development through graded nesting AI or Gerber files in which to size art . · Coordinates samples and works directly with factory to track preproduction in relation to fit. | |
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT | |
BA in fashion design or merchandising with a solid understanding of PLM, developing apparel specifications and managing multiple tasks. | |
BUSINESS HOURS | |
Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm, or as needed to meet business goals and objectives | |
